Paul East

Chairman

Paul East was elected Deputy Mayor of Rotorua after returning to his home town of Rotorua to practice as a lawyer. He was subsequently elected to Parliament where he served for over 20 years. He held a number of ministerial portfolios including serving as Attorney General, and as Minister of Defence and State Services. Following a term as High Commissioner to Britain, he returned to Rotorua and was first elected to the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust (Rotorua Trust) in 2004.

Mr East is the chairman of Perpetual Capital Management Limited (PCML), the funds management company responsible for investing the assets on which the Rotorua Trust relies to make grants to the Rotorua District community.

As a trustee, one of his responsibilities was to review the management and structure of the Trust and PCML, which led to a reduction in overheads. The Trust now has a secure financial base on which to provide much needed funding for future generations of the Rotorua District community.

John Green has had an extensive international career as a senior audit and management consulting partner in the international accounting firm, Price Waterhouse. Over the last 20 years he has pursued a wide and challenging career in merchant and investment banking, corporate acquisitions and restructuring in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Singapore and the United States of America.

He has held the positions of managing director of R & W Hellaby Limited, finance director of The National Provident Fund, chief operating officer of Brierley Investments Limited, and was chairman of the Union Shipping Group and the ANZDL Shipping Line. In recent years Mr Green has accepted professional directorships in a wide range of commercial and investment organisations.

He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, and former chair of the Wellington College Board of Trustees and the Wellington College Foundation. He is currently chairman of the Lakes Water Quality Society in Rotorua. Mr Green was appointed an independent director of Perpetual Capital Management Limited (PCML) in June 2006.

Sandy MAIER (Jnr), Doctor of Jurisprudence (Harvard) BA (Yale)

Sandy (Samford) Maier has worked in international commercial and investment banking with Citicorp/ Citibank for 15 years in various management positions in the Caribbean, South America and Australasia.

He has lived and worked in New Zealand since 1986, serving on the board of the Bank of New Zealand and as the statutory manager of DFC New Zealand Limited, for which he received a 1990 Commemoration Medal for services to New Zealand.

For the past 10 years Mr Maier has headed his own international management consulting firm specialising in strategic financial and human resource matters. He has served as chief executive and board member of a number of companies, and has been a director of Mighty River Power since April 2002. He has been an independent director of Perpetual Capital Management Limited (PCML) since June 2006.

 
Falcon CLOUSTON, BAgSc in Economics, AF Inst D

Falcon Clouston has more than 30 years experience in the financial services industry as a merchant banker and sharebroker.

He has been a member of the New Zealand Stock Exchange, the Government Task Force on Private Provision for Superannuation and The New Zealand Securities Commission.

Mr Clouston is currently a member of the NZX Disciplinary Board and ICANZ Appeals Council. He is also a director of Landcorp Farming Limited, Palliser Wines of Martinborough Limited and several private companies. Falcon is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and resides in Wellington. He became an independent director of Perpetual Capital Management Limited (PCML) in June 2006.
